We are pleased to announce the recent installation of the HPR-20 EGA gas analysis system at the Polytechnic Department of the University of Udine. This advanced bench-top mass spectrometer, renowned for its high sensitivity and rapid response, has been  integrated with a Setaram Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA). This integration enhances the department’s capabilities in real-time analysis of evolved gases and vapors during thermal analysis experiments.

The installation was expertly conducted by Andrea Secco, ensuring optimal setup and functionality of the system. Throughout the process, Prof. Sara Colussi and Dr. Maila Danielis provided invaluable support.

Under the leadership of Prof. Alessandro Trovarelli, the Catalysis Group at the University of Udine is dedicated to designing new materials for advanced catalytic processes, aiming to promote clean energy and environmental sustainability. The integration of the HPR-20 EGA with the Setaram TGA significantly bolsters the group’s research capabilities, particularly in the activation of small molecules and the development of robust catalytic materials.

The HPR-20 EGA system is specifically configured for continuous analysis of evolved gases and vapors from thermogravimetric analyzers. It features a heated Quartz Inert Capillary (QIC) sampling interface, allowing for real-time gas analysis with a mass range of up to 200 atomic mass units (amu) and a detection capability from 100% to less than 100 parts per billion.

We look forward to the innovative studies and breakthroughs that will emerge from this enhanced analytical capability.
