NCCAVS, is the Northern California chapter of AVS, with an annual symposium in February. It draws members from materials science and vacuum-related industries, equipment suppliers, universities and national labs in the Silicon Valley area. The symposium is a 1-day event and includes both talks and a vendor exhibit.
This year we had discussions with scientists and engineers from Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Lawrence Livermore National Lab, SLAC, and several thin film technology companies. Interests included residual gas analysis (RGA), thin film processing RGA (Hiden Analytical’s HPR-30 system), and high resolution mass spectrometry for hydrogen and helium isotope analysis (Hiden Analytical’s DLS-20 system). The symposium was well attended relative to 2022.
